SPEED. Its not just for the Usain Bolts of the world. Speed is also apart of your lifting, more specifically in a lot of your Olympic/power lifts.
I am NOT saying that you fly through the movements with no attention to technique... that is not the speed I am talking about. I am talking about that explosiveness when you snatch the barbell from the floor to overhead, or when you clean the barbell from the floor to the rack position. Many of us are strong enough to deadlift heavy weights and OHS impressive numbers... but not many of us have the SPEED necessary to perform a successful snatch or clean.
While there are cues and techniques to help increase speed, it is (in my opinion) something that has to come from inside the athlete. It is a burst of energy and intensity that will originate from within the athlete that will convince his/her body that they will move the weight with SPEED. it?
So lets start with our wooden dowels, our broomstick handles or anything light enough to work on your SPEED and technique... lets build ourselves up so that one day people are watching US in the gym thinking "Wow... now that was impressive..." (not that thats important... but sometimes it feels good...)
