CF vs. non-CF

WOD:
"Grace"
30 Clean & Jerks for time #135/95

I read an AMAZING article in the CrossFit Journal today. I will post it soon but for now I will just quickly summarize it for you...
The powers that be for CrossFit HQ got together and rounded up some of the best CrossFitters in the sport today. Names like Jason Kalipa, Chris Spealler and my ultimate dream girl (sorry hunnie!) Heather Bergeron just to name a few... this group of elite CrossFitters were brought to IMG Academies, a place where many of the US's elite athletes attend. The CF crew was put through the Under Armour's Combine 360 training protocol - a series of exercises and tests put to a scoring system to allow a somewhat objective view of total fitness and capability.
The article goes into detail about the various tests, but I will not. Suffice to say they encompassed a wide variety of challenges, both mental and physical.
1000 athletes participated, ranging from professional athletes to Division 1 athletes playing at very prestigious universities. So how did the CrossFitters do? Not suprisingly, they did VERY well.
6 of the top 24 finishers were CrossFitters. On average, the group of CrossFitters scored higher in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY except for one. As a group, the CrossFit crew scored in the top 10%. Many of the CrossFitters out-performed big time Division 1 college athletes who are just a few years away from very large professional contracts.
I dont know what this means to you... or to anyone else. I just know that I hear that CF "only makes you better at CrossFit"... this study would seem to prove otherwise.
Food for thought people... I will add the article soon and you all can decide for yourself. Until then, happy WODing!!!!
